Is My Computer Performing to its Fullest Potential?
Why is My Computer So Much Slower than before?
The answers to both of these questions can be found in the same place so I have placed them together on this page.
Follow these directions to find out how well your computer is performing:
(If you are using windows 95, it is time to upgrade your computer)
|
Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 98SE

Our Main Concern's here are MEMORY & SYSTEM RESOURCES. Memory: in most modern computer comes in sticks and is sold at many retailers. Memory is the cheapest and most efficient way to upgrade any computer (click here) for more information about memory and what should be in your computer.(add link) System Resources: This number on a computer running efficiently should be above 92% free. If you have between 60% and 80% then you probably have a lot of icons on the bottom right of your computer that load up every time you start your computer. If you have less than 50% free resources your computer probably crashes or freezes up often. |
Windows 2000, Windows XP
press [ctrl] + [shift] + [esc] Click on performance tab
(you will see something similar to this)
Our Main Concern's here are CPU Usage and Physical Memory CPU Usage: Basically tells you how hard your processor is working. An Efficient computer will not have a high CPU usage most of the time. If your CPU Usage is running at 99% for any amount of time, you probably have a program running that is causing problems or freezing up. Physical Memory: is exactly as stated, it is the amount of physical RAM installed in your computer. If your Available memory starts to run low, then your system will run slow and inefficient. |

One Option is to call Rob, and ask for a system Clean-UP If you don't want my personal assistance, then the best clue I will give you is as follows: you probably have too many programs starting up with your computer, as well as un-needed spyware, adware and toolbars which will slow down your computer.
